The Caregivers Support Trust is a Christian UK registered charity with the aim to support unpaid family caregivers in South American countries.

We are currently supporting ‘Heroínas en la Sombra’ – Unsung Heroines; a registered charity in Colombia which is a small charity supporting 12 unpaid family caregivers.  Both charities have the same aims but remain independent organisations.

In Colombia there is little or no support for full time unpaid caregivers. Any professional care which is very expensive and thus not affordable for most families.  Many improvements and developments have come in the field of medicine and physical therapy, but little has been done for the caregivers. These wonderful carers often devote their entire lives to looking after members with complex physical and mental disabilities with very little support from official bodies.
