Unpaid family care-givers are an invisible community. We are committed to make visible the invisible role of these carers in South America countries and are focussing currently on Colombia.
These care-givers are often unable to take time away from caring, making it difficult to take a break from their caring role This may be because they do not have anyone else to take over or that they feel guilty or worried about leaving the person they care for. Unpaid carers miss out on opportunities for leisure, recreation, socialising and personal development. They may also lose contact with friends, family or community networks which affects their own sense of identity and belonging
